“Relationships: Why did Christ make these so messy, hard and yet necessary?”
David K. Schunk
Since early 2011, Mr. Schunk has served as CFO for the Denver Rescue Mission (“DRM”), a $33M faith-based human services organization. At DRM, he directs IT, Finance, Treasury, Accounting, Legal, HR, Administration, and has led several strategic and significant real estate development projects. What he really loves about working at the Rescue Mission is experiencing “real and unmasked” life with the folks in the program, learning from them and watching lives transform for the glory of Jesus Christ!
Prior to DRM, and spanning over 30 years, he has served in a variety of C-level and senior management positions at large companies such as IHS, Intelligent Electronics, Verio/NTT, GE Technology Services and StorageTek. As well, during this time, he has also founded and/or profitably grown small businesses in IT, manufacturing, event services and private equity. Earlier in his career, Mr. Schunk spent time in banking and at Shell Oil Company.
Away from the office, Mr. Schunk serves or has served on several ministry, business and community boards, including Save Our Youth, Heritage Works, Denver Rescue Mission and has participated in the University of Denver’s Alumni Mentor Program for over 20 years. He recently completed his Christian Nonprofit Leadership Credential (CCNL). Schunk holds his MBA from the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business. His Bachelors of Science is in Finance from the University of Colorado. He loves the “house church” as well as the outdoors, especially hunting, backpacking, skiing, fishing, tennis and golf. He has been married for 33 years to Kathy and they enjoy three children, Natalie (29), Eric (26) and Kelly (23).
