We are a relatively young chapter with typical meetings having six to ten regular members and perhaps a visitor or two.
We believe in creating an environment where all men are welcome, no matter what they do for a living, what their age or ethnicity, or what mistakes they have made in their lives. We believe that grace is critical to our community, and is something we all require occasionally. Our group is casual and comfortable, largely because we enjoy the transparency of being ourselves.
All of our speakers are followers of Jesus, but attendees need not have any specific faith view. We regularly refer to scripture, and we encourage men to learn more about Jesus’ life and teachings. Men are attracted to transformational stories, and we have been blessed with many wonderful speakers who have inspired and encouraged us. Many of our speakers including members have been been first-hand witnesses to remarkable events. Sharing the awe and impact of these recollections is a refreshing reminder of the wonder and mystery of the world we inhabit – if we maintain open eyes to behold the fingerprints of its Creator. And the connections we enjoy through sharing the more mundane and trying times we as men may be going through strengthens our fellowship. Our God is always dependable – we are not. But we do better because our New Canaan brotherhood draws us closer not only to each other, but to our common Father as well.
We invite you to come check us out. You will find a community of men who are committed to each other, who laugh together (we don’t take ourselves too seriously) and walk with each other through life’s challenges.
About the New Canaan Society
Nationally over 10,000 men meet weekly across 52 chapters nationwide. Each chapter has its own flavor and is directed locally.
Once a year the movement has an opportunity to be together at the National Retreat Weekend in March.
The Raleigh New Canaan Society generally meets over breakfast twice a month. We occasionally come together outside the routine meetings – for other meals, for cookouts, fishing, shooting, excursions, volunteer opportunities… whatever happens to inspire us. Doing good, having fun, and both.
