Chapter Admin
They say there are two things you should never discuss in polite company: religion and politics. Holding a BA is Political Science from Calvin College, therefore, makes Dave Zuidema particularly unpopular at parties. As a tradeoff, however, he has the distinction of being one of the vaunted 1% that actually used a political science degree for something related to politics. He served for 7 years on the staff of U.S. Congresswomen Marge Roukema, and for 6 of those years as her District Administrator. He also managed 2 successful re-election campaigns. Dave later served a Communications Manager for the N.J. Conservation Foundation, one of the state’s leading, private, statewide land conservation trusts.
All that changed with the decision Dave and his wife Yvonne reached to add more Zuidemas to the global population. Dave went freelance in order to structure his time around being home with their children. He worked with several small not-for-profits – including NCS Bergen County! – during the following years, offering organizational, administrative, communications and marketing services.
Most recently Dave returned to the “traditional” workforce and his roots in public administration, accepting a position as North Jersey Regional Administrator for PathStone Corporation. In that role, Dave manages a federal employment program for low-income seniors in Passaic, Sussex and Warren Counties.
Dave has also served as a catechism teacher, deacon chairman and outreach ministry team leader at Covenant Christian Reformed Church in North Haledon. He has been married to Yvonne for 23 years; their 3 kids – John (age 13), Matthew (11) and Sylvia (6) are increasingly sassy. He has slowly been robbed of most of his hobbies by the expense of raising 3 children and living in Northern NJ.
