Eric Metaxas in an author, comic and co-founder of the New Canaan Society. His latest book is the acclaimed BONHOEFFER: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy, which illuminates for a new generation the moral courage of pastor and author Dietrich Bonhoeffer as he opposed the evil of Hitler’s Third Reich.
The best-selling author of Everything You Always Wanted to Know About God (But Were Afraid to Ask) and Amazing Grace, a biography of William Wilberforce and his fight to end slavery in England, Eric is also well known for his work with Chuck Colson, Veggie Tales and other children’s books and videos.
Eric is also one of three men that co-founded the New Canaan Society when they began meeting in Jim Lane’s family room in the early 1990’s. Today he serves as the Emcee for the NCS Annual Retreat, bringing his own unique flavor of humor and wit to that role.
Eric grew up in Danbury, Connecticut. He attended Yale University, where he edited the Yale Record (the nation’s oldest college humor magazine) and delivered the Class History, a satirical address that is a Yale graduation tradition.
