Leroy Cannady grew up in Philadelphia, PA and worked his way up from a butcher shop at the age of 16 to District Supervisor for Wal-Mart. Along the way, Leroy served as Meat Manager for Philadelphia A&P stores, cattle buyer for the American Cattleman Association and Kroger Store Manager in St Louis, MO. He retired from Wal-Mart in 2007 after serving on the management team a Co-Manager, Store Manager, and District Supervisor.
Leroy recently published a book based on my life story: Let Us Reason Together. In addition, he works as a Behavior Health Counselor, dealing with men, women, boys, and girls with behavior, drug, and alcohol additions.
In the early 1980s, Leroy and his wife joined the Gideon’s International in Edwardsville, IL. He subsequently served as Camp President’s Chaplin, Church Ministry Chairman, and a Regional Program Leader for the State of North Carolina. Currently he is a Testimony, Banquet, and Church Speaker for the Gideon’s International. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, Leroy lived in India working with missionaries from Germany and the United Kingdom planting churches in villages and rural areas of South India, Sri Lanka and Pakistani.
Currently Leroy lives in Winston Salem, NC. He has eight children, 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His hobbies includes boating, golfing and traveling.
