Nick grew up in the Catskill Mountains working alongside his father and mother in a small family run restaurant. He attended SUNY Cortland, played varsity football, concentrated in athletic training, and graduated with a degree in Physical Education. Upon graduation from college Nick married Betsy and in his early 20’s was given the opportunity to own a small family market in Bedford Hills, NY. Under an apprenticeship to his uncle, he learned to become an artisan butcher… Yes, that’s right, a butcher…
In the years to follow, after several attempts at business, his backgrounds in meat cutting and foodservice opened the door for him to teach aspiring culinarians the basics of cutting and selecting meat. Moving from teaching to administration, Nick spent the greater part of his eighteen-year career at The Culinary Institute of America in the office of Advancement where he learned the business of development and fundraising.
Today, Nick is the Development Director for Hoving Home. Hoving Home is a Christ centered program dedicated to helping women overcome addiction. Hoving Home has been helping women overcome addictions of all kinds for the last 55 years and has provided opportunities for recovery to over 26,000 women. Currently, with locations in Oxford, NJ; Garrison, NY; Las Vegas, NV; Pasadena, CA; and Rose Hill, NC Hoving Home has the vision to have a presence in 50 states by 2050. In addition to his full-time job as Director of Development, Nick is an ordained pastor at The Reformed Church of the Comforter in Kingston, NY.
