Pastor Matt Andersen serves as the Executive Director at Star of Hope Ministries in Paterson, NJ. Over the past 20 years, Matt and his family have served in various ministry capacities such as teaching posts in Okinawa, Japan, leading worship at Calvary Chapel Okinawa, and as church planters in Paterson, NJ.
In addition to his work with Star of Hope, Matt currently serves on several teams including the board and national leadership team of City Advance, The Social Justice League of Passaic County, and “Ecclesia” a city Gospel movement in Paterson, NJ.
For years, Matt has been obsessed with the concept of TEAMS. From sports teams growing up, to coaching, to working with a team of teachers, or a team in business and ministry, he’s been on amazing teams, as well as teams full of dysfunction. From seasons of thriving to periods where things…JUST. SEEMED. STUCK.
But why do some teams thrive, and others get stuck? Even if have the right people “on the bus”, it’s easy to get caught feeling guilty, or judging others when things aren’t going well. This led Matt to discover Patrick Lencioni’s WORKING GENIUS model, and he and his wife now serve churches, organizations, executive leadership teams, and city movements as Certified Working Genius Facilitators. Wherever you find a group of people working together towards a common goal, The Working Genius Model can help ensure each person is “in the right seat on the bus”.
Join us as we discover how The Working Genius model can help you, 1) Instantly gain a deeper understanding about yourself and how you are “hard wired, 2) Know better the kinds of work you should do and not do, and 3) Learn how your team can get much more done by tapping into the diverse skill sets of each member. Not only is there an application for TEAMS, but there are a multitude of BIBLICAL parallels for the Body of Christ as we strive together towards UNITY.
Some of Matt’s greatest passions are spending time with his wife and three children, teaching the Word of God, playing and watching basketball, and riding his motorcycle. His favorite verse is Galatians 6:9 – “’And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
