NCS Cincinnati was founded in 2011. Each of our members has experienced both the ups and downs of life and shares them openly and honestly. While the meetings will have a core discussion subject or speaker, we are not curriculum based and frequently follow the leadings of the Spirit to discuss a members current needs or a key topic of importance.
NCS Cincinnati, like NCS itself, is founded on an ancient Hebraic model of community. The ancient Hebrew culture discovered that living life together under God produced the strongest bonds and the deepest sense of identity. NCS thinks that life in this fractured world of competition and proxy communication has damaged our souls, and that an essential part of our humanity is the re-connection with other men just like us.
In contrast our post-modern world is based on a Greek model of civilization, where the world about cerebral control. It’s a place where reason is the final arbiter of action, where I am master of my own destiny. The Greek model fuels isolation, independence and privacy, the very things that keep us from experiencing true relationships.
Dependence, inter-relationships and transparency are central to the Hebrew view because it is first and foremost about life together. We believe that God designed human beings to put community ahead of individuality. Men in particular struggle in the Greek-based world, fighting against the grain of the universe.
