Bob Just vulnerably shares five stories that explain how “Birth-Day” has become his calling to live out the promise in Isaiah 61 to “bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”
Bob describes the power of the simplicity of “Birth-Day”–Christian adults going into a school on a single day to serve ice cream sundaes to children they don’t know in celebration of the day they each were born. He explains these adults represent “community fathers” and “community mothers” delivering a message of healing and hope that there has never been, and will never be, another you.
Bob talks about the wounds of having been a “son of divorce” and shares a brief excerpt form a powerful documentary about the life-long impact of divorce on children.
He describes experiences of his youth that prepared his heart for Birth-Day, including his experience as a secular Jewish boy growing up in Manhattan and transferring from the progressive Dalton School to Trinity, a conservative Christian boys school, and immediately knowing it was where he belonged.
Bob ends by showing a short video testimonial of the impact of Birth-Day in one school.
