Chapter Meetings

Chapter Fridays: 6:30am (EST), every other Friday from September to June at Ten Twenty Post Oyster Bar and Grill, 1020 Post Rd, Darien, CT 06820

Energy Fridays: 7:00am (EST), every other Friday from September to June, and every Friday from June through August, at the Sugar Bowl Luncheonette, 1033 Post Rd, Darien, CT 06820

NCS New Canaan has had many homes, beginning with the home of Jim and Susie Lane from 1995 through the end of 2003 (all of NCS will forever owe a huge debt of gratitude to Jim and, more importantly, Susie for hosting 200+ men every Friday morning).

NCS old-timers will remember Susie’s two conditions: (1) they must take their shoes off before coming in (just imagine 200 pairs of shoes on the front stoop) and (2) no coffee or food in the living room (woe to the newcomer who missed the hand-written sign).

Beginning in early 2004, we began looking for another home. We started in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Darien (and will always be grateful for their hospitality). After that, we moved to the Hibernian Club in downtown Stamford, using the Avon Theatre (a big thanks to Chuck Royce for his hospitality) for larger crowds.

With rumors that the Hibernian might be up for sale, we found a new home at Woodway Country Club in Darien beginning in September 2007 (thanks to our brother Tom Haack for sponsoring us). Starting in March 2009, we moved to our current home for Chapter Fridays at what was then a brand-new restaurant in downtown Darien, Ten Twenty Post Oyster Bar and Bistro.

Ten Twenty Post opened in late 2008 and welcomed us with open arms. Owner/Manager David Nelson knew a number of our members (but knew nothing about NCS). He and his staff are joyful givers, with David setting an example as the servant-leader pouring coffee and busing plates. Please show your thanks by visiting Ten Twenty Post with your family or work colleagues.

More recently, we began meeting on alternate weeks (and every week in the Summer) for Energy Fridays right across the street at the Sugar Bowl, a Darien institution. There we are warmly welcomed by owner Bob Mazza. So every Friday you can find us at one home or the other.
