If you missed our Chapter Friday this past week, then you missed a wonderful setup for the upcoming NCS New England Regional Retreat. You missed:
- Jason Locy sharing about lessons he has learned in trying to forgive. Perhaps most importantly, we love because God first loved us, and in that love we find forgiveness, which allows us to forgive. This is the “freedom” in our Retreat theme of “Freedom Changes Everything”. The freedom to love and forgive that comes from understanding God’s love for us and His forgiveness.
- Mitch Dickey in our “Keepin’ It Real” modeling the transparency and authenticity that NCS is all about and that is at the core of our NCS New England Regional Retreats. As Mitch said, NCS is about brudders “showing up” for each other, but brudders can’t “show up” until we get transparent about our struggles and needs.
Our guest speaker, Jason Locy (Jason’s talk is already available under Resources thanks to the amazing Rocky–click HERE) shared some of the “narratives” that have made him who he is today and asked the question: “Who am I apart from my history and the roles I have played?”. Jason wrestled with those narratives and the need for forgiveness. He also explored the difficulty in forgiving and why it can be so hard, seem so foreign and feel so painful. In looking back on his experiences in trying to forgive, Jason identified and explored three lessons he has learned:–You have to begin to work at forgiveness and then wait for God to take over.
–Forgiveness is ongoing
–Grace serves as the reminder of our past not the pain.We love because God first loved us, and in that love we find forgiveness, which allows us to forgive.
In friendship
