Our Chapter Friday meeting last week again contained quite a few nuggets to remember (or catch-up on if you missed it)–it was a day about transformation and healing.
Our guest speaker, Stephen Bennett (thanks to The Amazing Rocky, Stephen’s talk is already available under Resources–click HERE) courageously (and very transparently) told the story of his transformation from a man living a wild homosexual lifestyle (until the age of 28) to a happily married man with a wife and two children who has devoted his life to helping others find transformation through healing. Stephen shared a long and winding journey marked by childhood molestation, an abusive father, bullying by other children, a bold Christian friend, the power of prayer, the power of God’s Word, the power of love and ultimately the power and necessity of forgiveness.
As you may remember, Stephen was originally scheduled to talk to us in March but had to cancel the night before due to a debilitating migraine. It is often only in hindsight that we see how God works. We revealed the Triple Crown of Stephen’s visit–three things God did in May that wouldn’t have happened in March:
- In March, Stephen would have only shared his story with NCS New Canaan. In May, we were also able to schedule NCS Manhattan
- In March, Stephen did not want us to tape or post his talk because of the hate mail and death threats he and his family have received because of his ministry. In May, Stephen and his wife decided to be bold and trust in the Lord’s protection.
- In March, there was no Eric Metaxas Show. In May, our brudder Eric Metaxas saw the announcement of Stephen’s talk and interviewed Stephen AND his wife for two hours on The Eric Metaxas Show. Click HERE to listen.

Our brudder Richard Williams also shared about his own amazing journey of transformation, vividly illustrated by “before and after” driver’s license photos. Richard found healing through the love of Jesus expressed through Pivot Ministries, where he is now the Director. Click HERE to learn more about Pivot.
