George McGovern shares his journey from being a “typical” and “average” kid growing up in New Jersey and “following” men to “following” Jesus and becoming a spiritual advisor to champions as Chaplain for the New York Giants and the New York Yankees (and previously the Mets and Jets). The turning point was a crisis in his life that God used to draw George to Jesus. George also talks about the ways that God has used him to impact the high visibility lives of professional athletes.
Open Doors (Mohammad Yamout – 10/9/15 – NCS New Canaan)
UPDATE: It is with a heavy heart that we share Pastor Mohammad was found dead in his car early in 2022. While the circumstances of his death remain uncertain, we know with absolute certainty that he went home in glory to spend eternity with his beloved Jesus Christ. ___________________________________________________________________________
Mohammad Yamout is a former Sunni Muslim who is now a Christian pastor ministering to Shiite Muslims in Tyre, Lebanon, a 95% Muslim city. Pastor Mohammad believes God presents us with “Open Doors”–opportunities to serve and give and share the name and love of Jesus. We either choose to go through those doors or we pass by. Mohammad shares about the miracles that God is doing in Lebanon, Jordan and Syria when the name of Jesus is shared and lifted up and when people are cared for in His name. Mohammad also urges us to go through the open doors–and witness God’s glory.
An Incredible Journey of Transformation (Stephen Bennett – 5/22/15 – NCS New Canaan)
Stephen Bennett courageously (and very transparently) tells the story of his transformation from a man living a wild homosexual lifestyle (until the age of 28) to a happily married man with a wife and two children who has devoted his life to helping others find transformation through healing. Stephen shares a long and winding journey marked by childhood molestation, an abusive father, bullying by other children, a bold Christian friend, the power of prayer, the power of God’s Word, the power of love and ultimately the power and necessity of forgiveness.
Being a Man After God’s Heart (Sean Dunn – 5/8/15 – NCS New Canaan)
Sean Dunn shares his story of seeking God’s heart and gives an inspiring roadmap for pursuing God’s plan for your life. Sean takes us through the three key steps he discovered on his journey: let God move your heart; let God fuel your creativity; and let God move your body. Sean’s message includes some thought-provoking ideas:
- You can’t be both Kingdom advancing and self-protecting.
- This life is too short to be wasted and eternity is too long to be ignored.
- Obedience is better than complacency.
- Anything worth doing will take longer than you would like and require more determination than you anticipate, but if you are faithful with the little and stay focused on the next steps, God will see you through to the end.
