Getting Back on Track (Kareem “Biggs” Burke – 6/10/16 – NCS New Canaan)

July 20, 2016 by NCS New Canaan Leave a Comment

Biggs Burke shares his incredible journey from poverty in Harlem, to the top of the music business, to prison and then to life as a follower of Jesus.  With great transparency and humility, Biggs reflects on how his life was being derailed even as he thought he had it all under control.  He also explains how he came to follow Jesus and get back on track through an unlikely prison friendship, the love shown to his family by NCS brudders and miraculous answers to prayer.

Our brudder Peter Hawkins shares the basis for his confidence that God hears and answers our prayers (although not necessarily in the way we hoped).  From miraculous healings to winning a “David v. Goliath” legal battle to protect his son against a powerful institution, Peter has seen the awesome power of prayer personally in his life.  He also describes the important role that the prayer and support of NCS Energy Groups has played in his life.  It is an inspiring story.

Bob Muzikowski shares one of the most fascinating and inspiring personal testimonies you will ever hear. He shares the incredible journey from alcohol and cocaine addiction, dramatic bar fights and time in jail to a life devoted to lifting kids out of desperate situations and forming them into “leaders of character empowered by the hope that is in Jesus Christ.”  In his humorous style, Bob also challenges us to hold each other accountable for the “hoarding” mentality that accumulates multiple homes, cars, boats and other toys while kids in the inner city are struggling to get an education.  This talk will make you laugh out loud and reflect deep inside.

What is the key to living the abundant life Jesus promised us, no matter our circumstances? Tom McGehee lost his teenage son in a motorcycle accident. In this message he shares about looking for hope in all the wrong places and how he learned that surrender is the key to a life of eternal hope. Tom teaches that we fill our lives with things of the urgent. Yet, it is the things of the eternal that bring us life. Its all about your perspective and your choice to see the world not through your lens, but with God’s view.
