Brian Smallwood is a business owner and inspirational speaker who blends a love for the Word of God, a keen insight into the history of revival and a unique vantage point of the realities of the business world. Since 1990 Brian has owned and managed Smallwood and Associates, an international firm specializing in the trading of metals, raw materials and sub-assembly parts. Smallwood and Associates also provides consulting services and manages mergers and acquisition transactions in the metals industry.
Brian graduated Summa Cum Laude from The United College of Gordon and Barrington in Wenham, Massachusetts in 1980 with a degree in Biblical Studies and Philosophy. Following in his father’s career path he was hired by National Steel in 1981. Brian married his college sweetheart, moved to Nashville and by 1983 Brian and Susan were leading the College Ministry of Belmont Church. In 1991 Belmont began planting churches one of which became Grace Center in Franklin, TN. The Smallwoods were a part of the founding leadership team and became Co-Senior Pastors of Grace Center from 2000 until 2006.
During this time the church experienced revival especially among unchurched young people. In 2006 Brian and Susan went on an extended sabbatical then turned the leadership of the church over to their team so that they would have more time for their 4 children and other interests.
Brian brings a fresh and unconventional perspective as a speaker. His background as a bible scholar, revivalist and businessman is unique both in the church world as well as in business circles and listeners- young and old- find Brian’s messages liberating, relevant and uplifting.
