Tim Clinton is president of the 50,000-member American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), the largest and most diverse Christian counseling association in the world and publisher of the award-winningChristian Counseling Today magazine. He is Professor of Counseling and Pastoral Care and Executive Director of theLiberty University Center for Counseling and Family Studies; and was recently Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Regent University School of Psychology and Counseling.
Licensed in Virginia as both a Professional Counselor (LPC) and Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Tim maintains a part-time counseling practice with Light Counseling, Inc., in Lynchburg, Virginia. He recently became Chairman of the Covenant Marriage Movement, and is a member of the Arlington Group, a national marriage law-making and policy leadership group.
Tim directs development of the AACC Practice Library and is Executive Editor and co-author of The New GuideBook to Christian Counseling(Multnomah, 2005) andCompetent Christian Counseling: Foundations and Practice of Compassionate Soul Care(WaterBrook, 2002). In addition, he is lead author of Attachments: Unlock the Secret to Loving and Being Loved(Integrity, 2003) and a primary writer for The Soul Care Bible(2001).
As one of America’s most prominent professional counselors, he appears regularly on national television and radio programs such as Paula White Ministries, Bishop TD Jakes and the Potter’s Touch, Dawson McAllister Live, the Dave Ramsey show, and the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Tim has been interviewed and quoted in the New York Times, New York Daily News, Los Angeles Times, Associated Press, Janet Parshall’s America, the Salem Radio Network, Moody Network, Focus on the Family, and USA Radio.
Tim is a Liberty University honors graduate with B.S. and M.A. degrees in pastoral ministries and counseling. He then earned Ed.S. and Ed.D. degrees in counselor education from the College of William and Mary in Virginia.
Tim and his wife Julie have been married for 25 years (together they co-wroteThe Marriage You’ve Always Wanted) and reside in Forest, Virginia, with their two children.
