Ed Morgan

December 15, 2015 by NCS

Ed Morgan has been President and CEO of The Bowery Mission and Kids With A Promise for 15 years, and has been instrumental in leading the 130 year old organization to a renaissance in reputation, program effectiveness and income.

Under his leadership those ministries and their parent organization Christian Herald Association have reorganized, focused on an outcomes–based purpose statement, and built three of the City’s most effective homelessness recovery programs–including one that partners with the City of New York and one that is Manhattan’s only faith-based residential recovery program for women. The ministries have also tripled their income in the last ten years, raised visibility and established high profile events such as an annual Valentine Gala that raises $1million.

Prior to his current post, Ed had a 20 year career with General Electric in Washington, New York, Fairfield and Stamford, CT, where he was in charge of communications for several of GE’s top officers, won several management awards and founded an award winning customer magazine.

He also serves on the Boards of The Association of Gospel Rescue Mission, The Geneva School of Manhattan, The Family Institute of Connecticut, Hamlin Hospitals of Ethiopia, and The Advisory Board of Christian Leadership Alliance. He has been associated with CEO Dialogues as a participant or city host for six years and is a regular speaker at New York City’s Leadership.  He holds degrees from Rutgers University and the University of Illinois (MS, Journalism) and served as a US Air Force officer during Vietnam.

Ed and his wife Judy have three grown sons and seven grandchildren and live in Manhattan, where they are active in St. George’s Episcopal Church.
