Mark Clookie serves as Vice President of Investigations and Law Enforcement Development for International Justice Mission. IJM is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local governments to ensure victim rescue, to prosecute perpetrators, and to strengthen the community and civic factors that promote functioning public justice systems.
Before joining IJM in 2013, Mr. Clookie served in NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) as a Special Agent and was the appointed Director from 2010-2013. For over 31 years in his service as an NCIS Special Agent, he worked all over the world, including Bahrain and Japan. Mr. Clookie assumed many duties to include counterintelligence, counter terrorism, criminal investigative operations, management and administration.
Prior to joining NCIS, Mr. Clookie served as a police officer, volunteer firefighter, and emergency medical technician for several years.
Mr. Clookie received a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement from University of Maryland, College Park.
As Vice President of Investigations and Law Enforcement Development, Mr. Clookie is responsible for leading a team of Headquarters and Field based law enforcement and investigations professionals in ongoing investigations, police professionalization initiatives, assessment and evaluation, and collaboration with international constituents, internal and external to IJM.
