Ron Mackey–or “Chief Ron” as he is known in the Adirondack wilderness of Upstate New York–is the Director of Deerfoot Lodge, a Christian boys camp founded in 1930 that is devoted to “building godly men in Christ-centered community through wilderness camping”. Ron, who became the Director of Deerfoot in 2005 following 11 years in local church pastoral ministry, is deeply passionate about the modern plight of boys and men.
Chief Ron graduated from Cedarville College and earned his M-Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1993. He loves Adirondack hiking and backcountry skiing and is a three-time “46er”, meaning he has hiked all 46 of the Adirondack “high peak” mountains three times (and has done it in both Summer and Winter).
Ron and his wife Anne have been married for 26 years and have four children–Emily, Abi, Sam and Grace.
