Chapter Meeting: John Scanlon

John has been married to Heidi Scanlon for 31 blissful years. They are the proud parents of Anna, a presidential campaign staffer, and Andrew, a rising freshman at the University of Wyoming.
John is an attorney in private practice who advises clients from individuals to multinationals on a variety of business matters. He has served as general counsel to four companies and helped launch, finance, and operate businesses in several industries. He began his legal career at Davis Polk & Wardwell’s DC and London offices.
Since directing his first film, Sing, in 2006, John has also worked in various capacities on over 60 film and television projects. He currently serves as a producer on three upcoming independent films: God’s Spy, the story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer; Through Fire, a World War II action/adventure story; and Clemente, a documentary on the legendary Pittsburgh Pirate. His other credits include Neat: The Story of Bourbon, now streaming on Hulu.
John is a graduate of the University of California, Davis, where he worked as a professional firefighter and EMT, and Georgetown Law. Thanks to his father’s foreign service career, he grew up in nine different countries, including Kenya, Morocco, Indonesia, and Italy.
John attends National Community Church, where Heidi is a pastor, and has led an independent Bible study in his Georgetown neighborhood for over 15 years.
